We are so proud of all the progress we have made since Maintain Me joined GDPRA. In the last year both House Bill 19-1268 and House Bill 20-1101 have passed.
HB19-1268 requiring disclosure of compensation.
HB20-1101 protecting the right of Family Choice.
How does this effect you?
When working as a nurse case manager in the hospital system referring to every level of care had been pretty process driven due to preferred provider lists which already took into account quality outcomes. There was one level of care that did not follow these specific processes and that was discharging patients to IL, AL, and MC. Personally, I didn't have many relationships with placement agencies nor was there any way to vet them.
Now that I have stepped out of the Case Management role and into the placement world I feel so blessed to be part of setting that standard. Being on the board for GDPRA and watching the organization be part of these two bills being passed has helped our industry make huge strides in very necessary regulation. I feel personally responsible to take one step further and reach out to all of my partners in the industry to make you aware of this new legislation and how it effects you and the people you serve.
I encourage you to watch video I created explaining why we decided to focus on these two bills first and give an overview of their impact on older adults and their families.
