Unforeseen Changes - Another Success Story

plan B.jpg

A couple years ago I had helped a lovely family find an alternate option than the husband was currently living. He has dementia however wasn’t really fitting into his memory care assisted living. The wife was struggling with finding a more family-oriented setting that he can have others to communicate with. This was also during covid where there were many barriers to the move such as quarantine and visitation restrictions. We were able to find a wonderful home that this family fit in very well and they were able to accommodate outdoor visitation, so the wife was comfortable about the change. This was a great fit and everyone was happy.

About a year later there was an unforeseen change where the assisted living was sold and a new owner had taken over. We all know this can really change a culture and unfortunately this is going to be a huge change for this family. As a transition specialist we can never plan for these unforeseen changes but always tell our families to call if they are unhappy with any changes or care. I was so happy to have this family trusted me enough to call and help them find another place, even though ANOTHER transition is our biggest goal to avoid, we were able to find a place this family was VERY happy with. Every one of us hopes to never have to move someone again but it’s our job to set expectations and let families know that not every situation goes exactly how we expect. We want them to know that regardless of what happens they will always have us in their court to do care conferences, address issues even after the move and then come up with a plan if the issues cannot be addressed in a matter everyone is happy with.

A big thank you to this family for having hope and making the hard move to best serve your family and their care.
